Rating: - Scotty, Please beam away the Klingon voice track!
I looked forward to buying this for a very long time. Every comment on CD Now or anywhere else not only looked favorable but also portrayed this album as a "must have" classic.
Unlike others who experienced the same disappointment with this recording, I didn't mind the long instrumentals. I even found them relaxing, but the raging voice track that appears in the second and last song is just weird. Why would you do that to a song? I remember Iron Butterfly did it with a song on their Metamorphosis album I listened to when I was a teen, and although it was strange, it worked somehow. This didn't do anything for me but make me angry that I wasted hare-earned cash on this crap.
You do not want this recording unless you are a rabid fan of Mike Oldfield. Personally, I will never buy anything else he created. If you want this CD because of something written by an adoring fan who loves Tubular Bells, first, take a look at anything by Pink Floyd--a band that made fantastic music worth five stars.
I gave this one one star, because I couldn't choose a lower option.

Talk about a "one man band" this cd is a absolute work of art. There are so many different tones and levels of intensity its really incredible. I'm glad I purchased this cd and plan on buying all of the other productions.
Rating: - Still sounds great
I vividly remember hearing this when it first came out, and it made a huge impression. I went out and bought everything Oldfield had ever done - right back to early Kevin Ayers. Nothing was as good, although the later Ommadawn matched Bells. Buy it - this still sounds wonderful.

Rating: - Possessed by this record
Yeah , most people know that "Tubular Bells" was the theme for "The Exorcist" way back in the early 70's.
It is easy to see why it was chosen. From the moment the music starts , it grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. Having listened to this recording well over 500 times since it's release , I can honestly say I have listened to it from start to finish every time.Never once disappointed that I chose it to play.
