Amazon.com: When Sally discovers she has a mental block for numbers higher than 6, she announces, "I don't like counting and I don't like numbers." Brother Huckle Cat and his buddy, Lowly Worm, help out by teaching her the "One, two, buckle my shoe" rhyme. Problem solved. Next, Richard Scarry's version of an Indian man (a rodent in a turban) invents numbers to facilitate his job as a counter on a farm in "Counting Chickens." Finally, in "Count on Us," the youngsters are gathering pledges for the Red Cross bike-athon when Billy leaves his bicycle out in the driveway and Mom runs over it. In his piggy bank, he only has half of the $50 he needs for a used bike, and only a short time to earn the balance. He gets a job at the grocery store, but when things get panicky his friends come to the rescue by opening lemonade, cookie, and banana juice stands. Scarry's crew of creatures teaches kids lessons both academic and moral in 6.5-minute segments, with a couple of short music videos thrown in, making for a charming 23-minute tape.
